Joshua’s music is steeped in the tradition of post bop with a nod to hip-hop. He has been influenced by saxophone greats such as Jerry Bergonzi, Ralph Bowen, and Stan Getz while also drawing inspiration from the music he has played in various settings throughout his career. His work as a journeyman musician includes a wide spectrum of performance experience.
Joshua has performed at the Edmonton jazz festival with the Blue Line Quartet and the Vancouver jazz festival with the Wee Hours Trio. He has also performed and recorded with EDM groups, an Indian brass band, a hip hop MC, hipster indie bands, and an Iranian pop star. Joshua uses this wide variety of performance experience to advise his original music yielding a sound that is rhythmic, harmonically sophisticated, but also accessible and fun.
